Dramatic footage has emerged showing an allegedly intoxicated passenger from Edinburgh causing a commotion on a Jet2 flight. the woman could be heard repeatedly yelling “where are you taking me?” as she was escorted off in view of stunned fellow travellers.
This incident prompted the flight, LS781, which was heading to Dalaman on Tuesday evening (October 8) to be re-routed to Cologne to remove two “disruptive passengers”, following disturbances onboard. One flyer shared footage with Edinburgh Live showing four German police officers boarding the aircraft and removing two people.
Among them was a woman insisting she was innocent. She was seen shouting: “I don’t know what to do, this is not fair. I’ve not done anything wrong, where are you taking me.”
While being led down the plane’s aisle by officials, the woman bumped into another flyer, prompting an apologetic “Sorry, I’m sorry” before turning her attention back to the rest of the onlookers with a defiant yell of “f*** you all man.”
One of the passengers commented on the situation, saying, “The two of them were drunk and warned before we even took off. One spat in the other’s face and they had a little scrap”, reports Edinburgh Live. They added that the crew had pre-warned the rowdy individuals about potential penalties: “They were told by the cabin crew if we need to divert it will cost £20,000.”
A spokesperson for Jet2.com confirmed two passengers were offloaded for “disruptive behaviour” and the subsequent Dalaman to Edinburgh flight was also impacted, forcing the airline to offer passengers hotel accommodation and refreshments.
An airline spokesperson said: “We can confirm that flight LS781 from Edinburgh to Dalaman diverted to Cologne yesterday (Tuesday, October 8) due to disruptive passenger behaviour.
“The flight departed for Dalaman after two passengers were offloaded by police, however the subsequent Dalaman to Edinburgh flight had to night stop in Dalaman. We have arranged for hotel accommodation and refreshments for everyone and will have them on their way home as soon as possible.”
