Part of the M5 has been closed after a six-vehicle crash.

Emergency services are currently at the scene with traffic being diverted from part of the motorway.

Trafficwatch NI said: “The M5 is closed between Greencastle and Rushpark following a six-vehicle road traffic collision.

“The M2 north-bound remains open.

“Emergency services are attending the incident. Road users are advised to seek an alternative route.”

There are tailbacks in the area linked to the accident.

The PSNI said: “Motorists are advised that northbound traffic on the M5 is being diverted at the Fortwilliam Junction, due to a road traffic collision in the area involving a number of vehicles.

“Police are currently in attendance together with colleagues from the emergency services.

“Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route for your journey.”
