A popular Belfast burger spot has confirmed the opening date for its new city centre location, months after it was forced to shut down its stall following the closure of Trademarket.

Baps Belfast – known for ‘LA style’ smash burgers, loaded fries, Nashville chicken, and macaroni and cheese dishes – was originally located in Trademarket on the Dublin Road, which closed in July.

The street food outlet closed after it was confirmed that planning permission has been approved for IT firm Kainos’ new headquarters on the site.

Later that month the burger spot teased that it would be relocating to a new city centre location with an Instagram post saying “coming soon”. It later confirmed that its new permanent restaurant would be located at 52 Upper Arthur Street in the city centre.

Baps Belfast have now confirmed that their new restaurant will finally open later this month, on Friday October 25.

In a new post on Instagram the popular eatery also announced that to mark the occasion the first 50 customers to visit the new spot on the opening day will eat for free.

“It’s been such a stretch from when we pulled our shutter down during the summer, although we have been grafting tirelessly behind the scenes to bring you something we hope you’ll all love,” read the social media post.

“We are so buzzing to have you all come see our new sparkly shop.”

Last year, a popular food blogger praised Baps for having one of the “best burgers” they’ve had anywhere.

Matt Davies-Binge, aka Food Review Club, said the establishment was a “hidden gem” and that it supplied him with “one of the best chicken burgers” he’s ever had during his time posting culinary critiques online.

Food Review Club has been labelled the UK’s number one food reviewer, and the account has almost 80,000 YouTube subscribers and over half a million followers on TikTok.

Two of the team members gave Baps an overall score of 8.8 and 8.9 [out of 10] respectively.
