A man who has been accused of murdering two men and stuffing their bodies into suitcases before dumping them off the Clifton Suspension Bridge has appeared at court.

Yostin Andres Mosquera, from Colombia, appeared at the Old Bailey where he is charged with the murders of two men. Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, were killed between July 8 and 10 in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, police have said.

Almost three months later, 34-year-old Mosquera, Scotts Road, in Shepherd’s Bush, west London appeared at court. Joining by video link from Belmarsh prison, Mosquera appeared at the Old Bailey, today, Wednesday, October 9.

Dressed in a grey tracksuit, the Colombian national confirmed his identity with the assistance of a Spanish interpreter in court. He was not required to enter pleas to the charges levelled against him.

During the hearing, trial judge Mr Justice Bennathan KC moved the provisional Old Bailey trial date back from April 14 next year to April 29 next year.

The senior judge set a further plea and case management hearing for the week of November 25 and remanded the defendant into custody.
