• After debuting on the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport, the Free Wheeling package is coming to the 2025 Bronco
  • The graphics package will be offered on the Big Bend with Sasquatch off-road option
  • Free Wheeling’s “sundown stripes” were first available on Ford trucks, vans, and the Bronco in the 1970s and 1980s

Back in the 1970s and 1980s, Ford introduced the Free Wheeling package, which added “sunset” or “sundown” stripes to its Bronco, vans, and F-100 and F-150 trucks. There’s now a new version of the package; and after debuting it on the 2024 Bronco Sport, Ford is now adding it to the Bronco for 2025.

The Free Wheeling stripes will be available on the Bronco Big Bend trim with the Sasquatch off-road performance. Pricing for the 2025 Bronco hasn’t yet been announced, nor has what else the Free Wheeling package will add; but for 2024 in Canada, the Big Bend with Sasquatch starts at $62,340. The 2025 Bronco with Free Wheeling will be available in January 2025.

Unlike on the Bronco Sport, which adds large red wheel inserts, the Bronco Free Wheeling will have black wheels with a red accent stripe around the rim. It will be available with a soft top, removable body-colour hardtop, or black roof. The package includes the reflective stripes, body-colour door handles, and silver grille with “Bronco” highlighted with red.

The original Free Wheeling packages of the ’70s added stripes of various sizes, depending on the vehicle and the model year, along with painted steel wheels, black grilles and bumpers, and red and orange stripes on the dash and seat stitching. The new package includes the stripes on the seats, which are upholstered in a mix of fabric and marine-grade vinyl.

“We’ve modernized the new Bronco Free Wheeling in line with today’s fashion and graphic trends,” said Steve Gilmore, chief designer of Ford Vehicle Personalization, “including seats that mimic the colour palette of the exterior stripes, and unique pops of colour that come together in an optimistic way.”

Ford is also launching a merchandise line that includes the stripe graphics on items such as T-shirts, hats, bomber jackets, and water bottles.
