A police officer allegedly developed an inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable female and sent her unwanted explicit messages. PC Philip Paul Nicholls, based in South Gloucestershire, is also accused of attending her home address, which she also did not welcome.

He faces a police misconduct hearing at Avon & Somerset Police headquarters in Portishead on Monday, October 21. A publicity notice on the force website said he allegedly breached the standards of professional behaviour in terms of authority, courtesy and respect; honesty and integrity; and discreditable conduct.

It said: “It is alleged that PC Nicholls formed an inappropriate relationship with a female he knew to be vulnerable and continued to make unwanted contact in the form of sexually explicit messages and attending her home address. It is contended that (if proven) the allegations amount to gross misconduct.”

The hearing is expected to last three days and will be overseen by a Legally Qualified Chair who is independent of policing.
