A weather warning across large parts of Northern Ireland has been issued by the Met Office on Tuesday.

The forecaster issued the yellow warning for heavy rain in parts of Northern Ireland during the day.

Meteorologists said the warning is in place in counties Down and Armagh and will be in place from around 1pm until 5pm.

The Met Office have said heavy rain is expected later this afternoon and that some disruption is also possible.

They said some places in Northern Ireland will see 10-20mm of rainfall with parts of the Mourne Mountains particularly likely to see a further 20-30mm before the conditions clear.

The Met Office said people should take extra care on the roads and should expect possible delays to transport services.

There could also be some interruption to power supplies.
