Darts fans want Luke Littler to change back to his old arrows after crashing out of the World Grand Prix in the first round.

Littler was making his debut in the major competition and was given a tough opening fixture against world No 4 Rob Cross.

The teenager was still seen as a favourite to progress, but he could not get past Cross in a tight match.

Littler couldn’t even look as Cross secured the win with a bullseye as the pair embraced on stage.

The 17-year-old paid credit to Cross on social media with his focus now turning to the Players Championship in Wigan this week.

“Debut didn’t go to plan as I would of liked but overall I enjoyed my performance,” he posted on social media.

“Fair play to Rob, week off now and back to it in Wigan for PC 27/28.”

Littler will be hoping to add to the nine titles he’s already won in his debut professional season.

However, some fans believe the Premier League champion should revert back to his old darts this week.

One message read: “Switch your darts, the old darts better for you.”

Another posted: “Unlucky Luke, you just don’t have the same feel with your new equipment yet. Go back to Target this week and use your time wisely to adjust these darts to exactly what you need to win in Leicester.”

A third said: “New darts not going to plan.”

Another urged: “Get them new darts in the bin Littler lad.”

Cross will face Martin Schindler in the second round with hopes of a career-best run in a competition he’s previously struggled in.

“I think after the first set, I managed to get into a rhythm and flow in the game and after that I felt okay,” he said.

“One of them things at the end – the 88 – and you think to yourself got to hit it again otherwise we’re going 2-2.

“He’s so good I wouldn’t have put it past him that he’s gonna hit a nine so just glad to get over the winning line.”
