A UK holidaymaker had his £67,000 Rolex watch stolen from his wrist in a mugging on Spain. The man and his wife were having a stroll when one of the thieves ran up to him from behind and grabbed him.

His wife went to help him, but she was powerless as the thief floored her husband, held his arm, and ripped his expensive timepiece from him. He then knocked her to the floor too, before running away with the watch.

The mugger climbed onto the back of a motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting and the two sped away from the scene. The British man sustained slight injuries during the mugging in Magaluf, on the Spanish isle of Majorca.

It happened in April, but the footage has only just been released. The thieves fled the holiday isle – popular with Brits – shortly after the crime but returned in September to target new victims. However, the police had managed to identify the pair soon after the crime and they were arrested shortly after their return to Majorca.

They have been identified as two Italian men aged 44 and 57, as reported by NeedToKnow. They reportedly belong to an Italian organisation dubbed the “Rolex Gang”.

Its members are “highly specialised in the theft of luxury watches”, according to Spain’s Civil Guard. The suspects are charged with robbery with violence and with falsifying documents, in connection with the motorcycle rental.
