A Walmart shopper who filmed herself shoplifting at the self-checkout was captured by AI-powered cameras.
But TikToker Nesha, who goes by ohthatsnesh, appears willing to do anything for clicks: Despite being banned from the store, she still posted the mortifying clip.
“POV: When you usually don’t get caught, and now you’re banned for two years from all Walmarts in my area,” she wrote over the video, which has amassed more than 2.5 million views.
The clip shows a woman scanning and bagging a few items through the store’s self-checkout system before pretending to scan a backpack. She’s shown putting it in her shopping bag, despite the machine not registering the barcode.
A notification pops up on the screen that reads, “Associate Is On The Way,” which prevents her from scanning further or checking out.
A Walmart employee comes over, scans her card, and the screen soon shows the message “Missed Scan Detected” that also shows video playing back the woman’s “Potential Missed Scan.”
Nesha then pans her camera over to the employee, who is laughing uncontrollably.
“Even though she laughed … she called the manager, police and had us escorted outside,” Nesha wrote in the caption alongside “#stealinggonewrong.”

Walmart has had to up its anti-shoplifting measures after losing an estimated $3 billion a year due to theft, Gitnux reported.
Artificial intelligence has been one of the tools the Arkansas-based retail giant has introduced in recent years to catch possible thieves.
The “Missed Scan Detection” tool uses AI-powered cameras to cut down theft and inventory losses and was introduced to Walmart stores in 2017, according to Business Insider.
Walmart also recently introduced invisible barcodes on store-branded items, allowing products to be scanned without a barcode.
The technology is part of a $3-million deal with Digimarc. Walmart has seen high levels of theft in some stores that led to the closure of self-checkout.
A Walmart spokesperson told the New York Post that the company “does not publicly disclose security measures in our stores.”
