As the weather turns colder, it’s likely you’ll be less inclined to keep your windows open at home as frequently as in the summer months.

While keeping your home cosy is a priority, this reduced ventilation can lead to issues, particularly with dust. The limited airflow during these cooler months means dust is more prone to settle on your household surfaces, and it may feel like no amount of dusting can tackle it.

However, cleaning experts suggest that a homemade solution using just three ingredients could banish stubborn dust for up to a month. Homeaglow, a home cleaning platform, has shared a natural and budget-friendly dusting solution designed to both eliminate dust and prevent its return, reports the Express.

First introduced by the brand in a viral Instagram video viewed millions of times, Homeaglow’s video details how to create this dust-busting cleaning solution without needing to purchase specialised products.

Fans have swarmed the comments section, praising the method as ‘so effective’ at keeping dust under control. To concoct this ‘magic’ cleaner, all you need is 60ml of distilled white vinegar, one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, and a few drops of dish soap.

If desired, you can also add a few drops of essential oils to give the solution a scent of your choosing.

Firstly, ensure you have an empty and clean spray bottle. Pour in 1.5 cups of water, followed by the vinegar, oil and dish soap.

Secure the lid and give it a good shake to combine the ingredients, then lightly spritz onto a microfiber cloth. Use the dampened cloth to wipe over surfaces, collecting dust and distributing the solution. A second clean, dry cloth may be needed to buff away any residue and eliminate streaks.

Experts suggest that this concoction not only tackles dust but also prevents it from resettling for ‘up to one month’.
