A 17-year-old boy has been accused of killing a woman in his family’s garage in a small Italian town, leading to the gruesome case being called the “garage of horrors.”

Authorities alleged the woman, 42-year-old Maria Campai, was lured into the garage before being brutally beaten and strangled, people.com reported.

The woman was found dead last month in the Italian province of Mantua, leading to the arrest of the unnamed teen, according to several Italian news outlets.

Campai’s body was found nearly a week after she went missing on Sept. 19, La Stampa reported. It’s alleged that she was killed on the same night, per il Giornale and la Repubblica.

Local media have dubbed the case “garage of horrors” due to the nature of the alleged killing.

The suspect is accused of killing the woman in his family’s garage and then hiding her body outside an abandoned house, according to media reports which citing the prosecutor’s office, a judge and a confession provided to police.

The suspect allegedly met Campai on a dating website on Sept. 19 and recruited her for paid sex services, La Stampa reported.

Investigators recovered video footage that showed Campai walking into the garage with the teen, several news outlets reported.

Authorities alleged that the suspect attacked the woman, likely after she refused to comply with his sexual demands, per La Stampa. The teen, reportedly an MMA fan, allegedly attacked her with barbell weights.

An autopsy revealed she was allegedly beaten in her face and head and punched, several news outlets reported. The suspect also allegedly suffocated her using a martial arts move that involved squeezing her neck between his arm and forearm, news outlets reported.

The teen has been charged with premeditated voluntary homicide and concealment of a corpse, per reports.
