A Thai restaurant in North York was hit with a dozen infractions from Toronto health inspectors.

Phat Kaphrao, located at 3016 Bathurst St., south of Lawrence Ave., is known for its authentic street food inspired by travels to Thailand.

The eatery passed its last inspection last year but on Wednesday, it received a conditional pass notice due to 12 infractions — three crucial, four significant, four minor and one other, according to Toronto Public Health.

The restaurant remains open to the public if you have a hankering for its pad thai, khao soi (coconut curry soup) and khao man gai (steamed chicken on rice).

The crucial violations were failing to ensure a food handler washed their hands as necessary to prevent the contamination of food, failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration, and storing potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4C and 60C.

The restaurant’s significant infractions were using food equipment not of sound and tight construction as well as using equipment not free from cracks “in contact with food.”

A dirty towel was used for cleaning surfaces that come into contact with food, and the utensils were not sanitized in the proper chlorine solution.

As for the minor infractions, Phat Kaphrao failed to protect against entry of pests and equipment surfaces were not sanitized as necessary, inspectors said.

The food-handling room and its floors were not maintained in sanitary condition, they added.

The “other” infraction was not having a food handler or supervisor present during all hours of operation.
