Canadiens defenceman Arber Xhekaj has had a very interesting pre-season.

During back-to-back games at the Bell Centre — a 2-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs and a 4-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators — Xhekaj racked up 44 penalty minutes, along with two game misconducts. Xhekaj was also fined US$3,385.42 by the NHL for unsportsmanlike conduct against Cédric Paré after the Leaf had a knee-on-knee hit on Patrik Laine that will sideline the Canadiens forward for 2-3 months with a sprained knee.

Did Xhekaj go overboard or was his conduct warranted?

That’s the question answered on this Hockey Inside/Out Show Bonus episode.

Former Canadiens’ Chris Nilan — who knew all about defending teammates — and Rick Green give their opinions, along with Gazette sports columnist Stu Cowan.
