Jamie Carragher has blasted Manchester United’s hierarchy for choosing to keep Erik ten Hag as pressure continues to mount on the Dutchman.
The Red Devils drew 3-3 with Porto in the Europa League on Thursday night having raced into a 2-0 lead.
They could even have lost the match, with Harry Maguire scoring late to earn United a draw.
Ten Hag seems to be a dead man walking at Old Trafford, with the 54-year-old widely expected to be sacked if the club lose to Aston Villa on Sunday.

And Carragher has accused the United hierarchy of making ‘one of the worst decisions’ possible by choosing to keep faith with Ten Hag back in the summer.
“The new United hierarchy have made a deeply unimpressive start to their Old Trafford reign with one of their worst decisions being the most important any board can make,” he said.
“Above all, you must ensure you have the right manager.
“Retaining Ten Hag is proving the catalyst for another wasted campaign and possibly another £200m down the drain.”

Ten Hag had been set to lose his job earlier in the year.
But with United winning the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City, Ratcliffe opted to stick – rather than twist.
Carragher has also hit out at three of United’s summer signings.
Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Ugarte have toiled so far following their arrivals from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Joshua Zirkzee, meanwhile, has scored just once since touching down from Bologna.
Carragher condemned the trio by saying: “And did no one raise the issue that if sticking with him backfired, his eventual replacement might not believe Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte are the right fit for them?”
Ten Hag, for his part, remains defiant.
The 54-year-old has regularly pointed to the two trophies he’s won as proof he’s the right man for the job.

Speaking after his side’s draw with Porto, he insisted United were on a ‘journey’.
“We talk every day and we are on a common journey,” he said when asked if he’d talked to the United board.
“We made that agreement in the summer.
“We made our decisions, we refreshed and reset the staff.

“I appointed my assistants. We refreshed the squad as well.”
Ten Hag will be hoping to guide United to victory over Aston Villa in their crunch Premier League clash on Sunday (4pm).
But defeat will likely see him follow the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal and David Moyes out of the exit door.
