Sir Elton John has revealed the toll his health issues have taken, saying there’s ‘not much left’ of his body. The legendary musician, who retired from touring last year, suffered through a difficult summer with a ‘severe eye infection’.

Speaking at the premiere of his new documentary ‘Elton John: Never Too Late’ at the 62nd New York Film Festival on Tuesday (October 1), the 77-year-old opened up about his health struggles. “I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix, I don’t have a prostate,” he told People Magazine.

“I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip. But I’m still here.” The popstar also expressed appreciation for the support of his family, David Furnish and their two sons Zachary and Elijah, who bring immense joy to his life, according to The Express.

This heart-warming admission follows shortly after Elton disclosed last month that he had been battling with an eye infection, which resulted in ‘limited vision in one eye’. In an emotional Instagram update, the musician shared: “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.

“I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks. I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.” He signed off: “With love and gratitude, Elton John.”

At the time, messages of support and warmth flooded in for Elton from his fans and celebrity friends. Fashion queen Donatella Versace was among them, posting: “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you.”

Adding to the solidarity, Westlife’s former star Brian McFadden went sent a number of heart emojis, while country rocker T. J. Osbourne said: “Take your time and recover, Elton. We’ll be here waiting for your return when you’re healthy and ready ;).”
