Preliminary readings of an earthquake that hit near St-Jérôme Wednesday morning categorized it at magnitude 2.7.

If neighbourhood Facebook groups north of Montreal were to be believed, it was quite the production, but the quake was “lightly felt,” according to Earthquakes Canada.

The quake struck around 7:40 a.m. and originated 35 kilometres north of St-Jérôme in the lower Laurentians, at a depth of 10 km.
