Reports from Germany have emerged that Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher has been seen in public for the first time in over a decade.
The now-55 year old suffered severe injuries after a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013, which resulted in him being placed in a medically induced coma for several months.
Since his return to the family’s Lake Geneva home in the subsequent year, Schumacher has been under constant medical supervision, with his wife Corinna and a dedicated team of healthcare professionals providing care.

Corinna is known for being fiercely private about her husband’s privacy, allowing only close friends and family to visit and few said to know the details of his condition. Nonetheless, it is reported that Schumacher made a rare public appearance at his daughter Gina Maria’s wedding last Saturday.
Gina Maria, aged 27, married Iain Bethke at the Schumacher family villa in Majorca, and German media outlets claim that the motorsport superstar was present to celebrate the occasion among other guests at the opulent event, reports Wales Online.
It is also noted that wedding attendees were asked to leave their mobile phones at the entrance, presumably to ensure no unauthorised images of Schumacher were taken during the event.
In 2021, Corinna opened up about the challenges of caring for her husband post-accident, expressing how much she “misses Michael every day”.
“It’s not just me who misses him,” she expressed. “It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. Everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here – different, but here. He still shows me how strong he is every day.”
“We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond. And no matter what, I will do everything I can.”
“We all will. We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does,” Corinna added. “And we are getting on with our lives. It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael.”
