SAME OLD LEAFS
Watching the first Leafs pre-season game, I quickly realized that I’m in for another year of the same old, same old. I was hoping the league would switch to white as the home uniform colour, just for a change, but that didn’t happen. The P.A. announcer still takes 10 minutes to announce the previous goal, which I can never figure out why. It’s still the same Sportsnet broadcast which is as lame as Seth Meyers’ Trump impression. Nothing against the man, but I still have a hard time listening to Chris Cuthbert’s voice and Craig Simpson can put a high school prep rally to sleep. Of course Marner will get a mitt full of assists, but again, will pull his Claude Rains act in the playoffs while the city actually thinks this team is a Stanley Cup contender. Oh well, looks like another year of the same old, same old.

(The season is just starting. Maybe this is the one year Leafs fans won’t be disappointed. Maybe?)

MANAGEMENT CHANGE
I have a question to ask the owners of the Leafs and that is, if the Leafs follow the play that they have done in the past few years, doing great in the regular season and folding in the playoffs like a cheap suit, will you finally get rid of the president? The Shanaplan has been a complete bust. It is time for him to go, but they will always blame the GM or the coaches and they will be fired before Shanahan. Something to think about with a change in the upper management.

(It is quite incredible Shanahan has managed to hang on as long as he has considering the abysmal outcomes from the Leafs)

THE CBC BIAS
I would like to add my two cents worth to the Brian Lilley column “Change the channel!” (Sept. 13). I refer to the CBC as the LPM (Liberal Party Mouthpiece). I only tune in when I want to get the Liberal Party’s take on a matter (very seldom). Do they really think that their viewers are so stupid that they cannot see bias for what it is?

(Dedicated CBC watchers don’t think they have bias)
