A 33-year-old man has been arrested after two females were found dead inside a Courtice home on Tuesday afternoon.
Durham Regional Police said officers responded at about 1:10 p.m. for a wellness check on the occupants of a residence on Moulton Crt. near Courtice and Nash Rds.
Officers arrived to find two dead females suffering from “obvious signs of trauma.” The cause of their deaths is unknown.
The identities of the victims haven’t been released.
“There was a small child in the home at the time, however, that child was not injured,” Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss told reporters at the scene. “A 33-year-old man inside the home at the time has been taken into custody.”
Police said the homicide unit is investigating. They believe the incident to be isolated and there is no threat to public safety.
HELP SOUGHT IN PEEL SEX ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
Peel Regional Police are looking for help to solve a sexual assault investigation.
On Thursday at noon, police said a 27-year-old woman was walking in the area of McLaughlin Rd. and Bovaird Dr. in Brampton.
Police said an unknown man approached her to ask for directions and he then allegedly sexually assaulted her. The woman wasn’t injured.
The suspect is a South Asian male with a slim build and light skin between 25 and 30 years old. He has black hair, a receding hairline and an unshaven face and was wearing a light-coloured Nike T-shirt, black shorts with a vertical white stripe and sandals.
