Kieran McGeeney has been “unanimously supported” to remain as Armagh senior football manager for 2025 when the Orchard men will bid for back-to-back All-Ireland SFC titles.

There was little surprise at tonight’s Armagh County Board as McGeeney was handed the reins for an 11th season having led them to the promised land in July.

“Following tonight’s County Committee meeting, club delegates unanimously supported Kieran McGeeney as the Senior County Football Manager and his backroom team for the 2025 season,” a brief Armagh GAA statement read.

His future was far from certain this time 12 months ago, though, when the 2002 All-Ireland-winning captain survived a vote by delegates to remain in the position before subsequently delivering just the second Sam Maguire success in their history.

There were three other managers ratified at tonight’s meeting with Barra Murray taking over from Aidan O’Rourke as minor football boss while Karl McKeegan remains in charge of the senior hurlers and Míceál Murphy will be U-20 hurling boss.
