The New York footballers are the latest to fill a managerial vacancy with Tyrone native Ronan McGinley taking over the reins in the Big Apple for 2025.

The Errigal Ciarán clubman, who lined out for New York as a player between 2011 and ’17, takes over from former Cavan goalkeeper Alan O’Mara after he stepped aside at the end of this season.

McGinley was part of O’Mara’s backroom team during his sole season in charge but he faces the toughest of tasks in next year’s Connacht SFC when his side welcome All-Ireland finalists Galway to the Bronx.

That vacancy being filled means that just the footballers of Derry, Westmeath and Clare are left to confirm their manager as the new season gets closer.
