Two men are in hospital after they were attacked in Newry in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The two men in their twenties suffered serious facial wounds after being repeatedly kicked in the head outside of a licensed premises in the town.

The assault happened sometime between 12:30 and 1am on Sunday, in the Trevor Hill area.

The men were set upon by a group of men outside of the premises around this time, and sustained major injuries.

They since been taken to hospital, and area currently receiving treatment for their wounds.

The PSNI have launched an investigation, and are asking anyone who may have seen the assault, or has information about it, to contact Ardmore station.
