Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) are investing in high street regeneration in three areas of Bristol with new grants for businesses. Those with businesses in Old Market and on Stokes Croft and Christmas Steps can apply for funding for extending opening hours in an attempt to rejuvenate Bristol’s shopping districts.

The three areas will be supported with funding totalling £170,000 to attract footfall and encourage the culture and events sector to be able to support itself. Businesses who do not currently open after 6pm will be able to access grants up to £1,000 to trial late night openings.

Grants of between £500 to £2,000 will also be available to allow businesses to test an idea to reach a wider or new audience, trialling something which can continue to be self-funded.

The first phase of culture and events funding for high street regeneration from 2021 until 2023 saw a number of events brought to the city centre, including St Nick’s Night Market and Bristol Light Festival.

The deadline for organisations to apply for funding is Tuesday, October 15.
