A man has died in a road crash in Co Fermanagh.

A lorry and a car were involved in the crash in Lisnaskea on Wednesday.

Police said father-of-five Daniel Lavelle, 40, who had been driving the car, was declared dead at the scene on the Crom Road.

The driver of the lorry was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Roads Inspector Cherith Adair said police received a report of the crash at about 5.30pm on Wednesday.

“Officers attended, alongside our colleagues from other emergency services. Sadly, the driver of the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” she said.

“He was married father-of-five, Daniel Lavelle, who was aged 40 and from the Donagh area.

“The driver of the lorry, a 48-year-old man, has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at this time.”

She asked anyone who witnessed the crash to speak to police.

“My detectives are investigating the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our inquiries,” she said.
