Dinos Football (1-3)
Saturday, Sept. 28 | Calgary vs. UBC | McMahon Stadium | 2:00 PM | Watch | Live Stats

The Dinos football team hosts the lone regular-season competition on campus this weekend, welcoming UBC for a Saturday showdown at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Calgary heads into the weekend sitting at 1-3 at the midway point of the season, but their season could easily look much different. Last week, the Dinos appeared to score a game-winning touchdown on the final play of the game but it was ruled out of bounds in a 22-17 loss to undefeated Manitoba. That came one week after a double overtime loss on the road at Saskatchewan in a game that obviously could have gone either way.

The good news is the Dinos still clearly have plenty left in front of them. After hosting UBC this weekend, Calgary will head to Regina and Vancouver before finishing the regular season at home against Saskatchewan.

After dropping their first two games of the season, the Thunderbirds come to McMahon Stadium sitting at 2-2 in the log-jammed Canada West standings.

Calgary ended UBC’s short win streak at two in the head-to-head series last season with a 20-6 victory at home in Week 6. Outside of those two wins by the T-Birds in 2022 and 2023, Calgary has won nine of the last 11 regular season games between the two programs.

Dinos Men’s Soccer (5-1-3)
Saturday, Sept. 28 | Calgary at Mount Royal | MRU Campus Field | 5:00 PM | Watch | Live Stats

While they don’t play on campus this weekend, the Dinos men’s soccer team won’t have to travel far as they get set for their lone weekend matchup this Saturday against Mount Royal. The two rivals are set to square off Saturday at 5 p.m. from the MRU campus.

Calgary heads into this derby with a 5-1-3 conference record after tallying wins in four of their last five games. The Dinos attack has been rolling of late, scoring multiple goals in all four of those wins, including netting six two weeks ago against UNBC and five this past Sunday in a shutout of Fraser Valley.

The Cougars enter the weekend at 4-1-4 and just behind the Scarlet & Gold in the divisional standings with five games to go in the regular season.

Saturday’s game is the second meeting between the two Calgary rival schools, following a 1-1 draw at Dinosaur Field back on Aug. 31.

This weekend marks the midway point for Calgary’s women’s soccer season, traveling to Winnipeg for a pair of rematches with Prairie Division opponents. The Dinos will take on Manitoba Saturday at noon MT before battling the University of Winnipeg 24 hours later.

Calgary sits at 5-1 through its first six games, good for the early lead in the Canada West Prairie Division with 15 points. Only UBC (6-0) has more wins across all of Canada West in the early going. For their efforts, the Dinos climbed back into the U SPORTS rankings this week at No. 10.

It’s been a tough start for both Manitoba and Winnipeg so far this season. The Bisons sit at 1-5 in conference play, while the Wesmen enter the weekend at 0-6 and have been outscored 35-1, thus far, including a 10-0 rout back in Calgary in the season opener.

The Dinos have had a run of success against both of this weekend’s opponents, claiming the last five regular-season games over the Bisons and the last 11 in the battle against Winnipeg.

Calgary heads into the weekend at 0-3 in the standings but has made significant improvements through its first three games. Last time out, the Dinos were tied up with Lethbridge at 12-all at the half before dropping a 27-17 decision at McMahon Stadium.

UBC enters the weekend at 2-1 after wins over Lethbridge and Alberta following a season-opening 22-17 loss to the undefeated Vikes.

Sunday’s game against Victoria also marks the annual Jenny Vincent Memorial Game.
