Danica Patrick never has been one to hold back her thoughts, especially when it comes to politics.
And while it was no real surprise that she recently endorsed Donald Trump in this year’s U.S. presidential election, she also had a message for those who are critical of her home country: “You can leave if you want.”
The motor sports trailblazer and current Formula 1 analyst has been very active in her support for the former president. Patrick moderated a panel as part of Trump’s ‘Reclaim America Tour’ in Las Vegas over the weekend, featuring former U.S. representative Tulsi Gabbard and former Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Patrick also posted on Instagram that, should Trump be elected this fall, he would be better positioned to hit the ground running.
“Watching this Avengers style team of Trump supporters assemble over the last year has been amazing,” she captioned a post featuring herself at the event. “And even more amazing is what kind of country they could build. So much diverse talent with such passion and knowledge.
“The most interesting point made the other night was that Donald was not able to create his transition team when elected in 2016 until Nov 5 because that’s when the budget was made available. He felt he was behind from the start and then didn’t have the right people in place to fully execute his vision. This time he is starting 3 months early. With a lot more experience than last time. Let’s go.”
During her racing career, Patrick was one of the most successful women in the history of American open-wheel car racing. Her 2008 victory in the Indy Japan 300 is the only win by a woman in an IndyCar Series race to date.
She raced in NASCAR from 2012-18, racking up 191 starts – by far the most ever by a female driver – and became the first woman to ever earn poll position during qualifying at the 2013 Daytona 500.
Along with her Formula 1 duties, Patrick also hosts a podcast on which she has spoken with conservative commentators like Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson.
