Two women allegedly pulled a baseball bat and grabbed police officers’ belts after damaging property during a demonstration in the city on Tuesday, according to Toronto Police.
Officers attended a demonstration in the Yonge St.-Bloor St. E. area at about 6 p.m.
Cops alleged that women painted the sidewalk and then left the crowd shortly afterwards.
When officers tried to arrest them for property damage, police said the duo fled. After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended suspects, who allegedly resisted arrest before one pulled a baseball bat from her jacket and the other tried to grab the officers’ duty belts.
Police said upon arrest, officers found several cans of spray paint and paint brushes in their possession.
Octavia Kelsie, 20, was charged with mischief/damage to property under $5,000, disguise with intent, assault with intent to resist arrest/use a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Manar Hossain, 31, was charged with mischief/damage to property under $5,000, disguise with intent, assault with intent to resist arrest, and obstructing a peace officer.
HAMILTON MAN FACES ADDITIONAL TRAFFICKING CHARGES
A Hamilton man arrested in July on multiple charges following a sex-trafficking investigation involving an underage girl in the Greater Toronto Area now faces additional charged related to a second victim.
Peel Regional Police alleged the suspect exercised control over numerous aspects of the victim’s life and forced her to perform sex while profiting from it.
On July 18, Mohammed Karim Mohammed, 31, was charged with trafficking persons under 18 years old, procuring person under 18 years old, receive benefit from trafficking, communicate for sexual service, material benefit sex services, householder permit sexual activity, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
Police said Mohammed was arrested again after a second victim contacted police. It’s alleged that the accused exercised control over numerous aspects of the victim’s life and forced her to perform sex while profiting from it.
He has been charged with procuring person, exercise control, assault, sexual assault, and assault with a weapon.

OSHAWA MAN CHARGED IN AJAX STABBING
An Oshawa man faces charges, after a stabbing in an Ajax parking lot sent a seriously hurt victim to hospital.
Durham Regional Police said officers were called on Tuesday at about 6:05 p.m. for a stabbing in the Taunton Rd. W.-Westney Rd. N. area.
Police said the victim was in a parking lot when he was approached by three males. A physical altercation broke out, resulting in the victim being stabbed.
He was taken to a Toronto-area hospitial in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
All suspects fled the area prior to police arrival. Officers later found a suspect who was taken into custody.
Hakim J. Williams was charged with aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.
2 NIAGARA FALLS CANNABIS STORES SHUT DOWN
OPP shut down a pair of cannabis stores in Niagara Falls after a raid earlier this month.
Officers searched two stores they say were not authorized to sell cannabis or cannabis products.
The stores have been closed, and the owners must get permission to re-enter the properties.
More than $250,000 in illegal cannabis, including dried marijuana, hash, edibles, vapes and shatter were found along with $1,600 in cash.
Lehlohonolo Molefe, 39, of Toronto, and Misty-Lyn Drozdowsky, 60, of Port Colborne, face charges.
VEHICLE STOLEN DURING OAKVILLE HOME INVASION
Police say a vehicle was stolen during an early morning home invasion in Oakville on Wednesday.
Halton Regional Police alleged two suspects broke into a home on Westminster Dr. at about 5:30 a.m., breaking the glass on the residence back door.
Police said the suspects made their way to the upper floor of the home where they allegedly confronted residents — a man and a woman — demanding the keys for a Mercedes SUV parked in the garage.
The suspects then allegedly stole the keys and fled in the vehicle.
There were no physical injuries.
The suspects are described as two males wearing dark clothing.
Investigators issued an appeal for any video footage (dash-cam or doorbell) in the area of Westminster Dr. and Lakeshore Rd. W. around the time of the incident. They urge anyone with information to call 905-825-4777, ext. 2216.
