A well-known Mexican food chain in Belfast is preparing to hand out 20,000 free burritos this Thursday (September 26) as part of its 2024 Freshers campaign.

With Boojum’s ‘Buy One, Bank One’ promo, university-goers simply have to flash their student ID when buying any main meal in-store and they can get a free burrito voucher to use later.

The giveaway is available for one day only, but the dining chain is also offering a £5,000 cash prize to one uni student as part of the new academic year’s festivities.

David Maxwell, managing director of Boojum, said: “Freshers is our favourite time of year at Boojum! We love seeing familiar faces back after summer, and even more, we love introducing new students to their first-ever Boojum burrito.

“We value our customers, and we never take their loyalty for granted. That’s why we’re dishing out 20,000 free burritos — it’s our way of saying ‘thanks’ and making sure their next burrito is on us! Students are the heart and soul of Boojum, and every year we brainstorm how to give our #1 fans the best welcome back. We’re always about offering great value, but this year, we’re going beyond just serving up burritos.”

Boojum opened its first location on Botanic Avenue in Belfast back in 2007, and has continued to expand over almost two decades.

It opened its ninth Dublin store earlier this year and also announced it would be opening its first store in Great Britain with a Leeds outlet.
