Four men have been charged with murdering a man who has been missing for over a month. Concern was raised for the welfare of 37-year-old Michael Wheeler, from Yeovil, after he was last heard from by family and friends on Saturday, August 24.
An urgent investigation was launched by police after fears arose that he may have come to serious harm. Avon and Somerset Police said his vehicle was found abandoned in Yeovil last week.
David Garland, 39 and Jack Rance, 28, both of no fixed abode, and Mark Roberts, 38 and Reuben Clare, 18, both of Yeovil, have now been charged with his murder. They appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, September 25) and were remanded in custody pending a further hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday (September 27).
Meanwhile, a man who was arrested last week has been re-arrested today and a man arrested on Monday is currently on police bail. A woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender is also on police bail, and the investigation continues.
Avon and Somerset Police said: “Enquiries to find Michael Wheeler continue and we still want to hear from anyone with information. If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5224244891, or complete our online appeals form.
