A new taxi service in Bristol is set to launch in October. The new company, Wayder, has its own app and aims to provide a sustainable taxi service to local people.
The local start-up includes a home delivery service with cargo bikes and taxi bookings contributing to trees being planted. Wayder plans to plant a tree for every five taxi rides purchased on the app.
Taxis can be booked via the app in the same way they are on Uber or Bolt but there is also an additional option for deliveries. Customers can select the delivery option if they have a parcel or large item that they wish to be sent to another location within the Bristol area.
While there is a focus on sustainability, the new local business, set up by an Uber driver based in Barton Hill, aims to provide an alternative to those who want to move away from big companies and support local businesses. The company is currently registered as Faraday Cars but will be relaunching as Wayder in October.
The Wayder Bristol delivery app is currently available to download but the company will officially launch on October 7. Wayder is currently inviting private drivers, cargo bike owners and riders to sign up to “WAYDER PRO”, an app for those interested in working for the local initiative.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Our mission was to create a service that fits Bristol’s ethos of environmental consciousness and progressive urban living. With our team and partners, we’ve built a platform that combines local insights with global innovation.
“Rides taken through Wayder result in trees being planted, helping to reduce Bristol’s collective carbon footprint.” More information about the app and brand new Bristol business can be found here.
