The four-star Ebrington Hotel in Londonderry has been named Northern Ireland Hotel of the Year at the 2024 AA Hospitality Awards.

The 89-bedroomed venue opened in July last year in the former Ebrington Barracks in the city.

Managing director Cecil Doherty said he was “absolutely delighted” to win the award.

The Ebrington Hotel, Londonderry

“It is a testament to our vision of creating a truly unique luxury hotel in the heart of Derry and to the dedication of our outstanding team, who consistently deliver superb service to our guests.

“The Ebrington has become a standout addition to Northern Ireland’s luxury accommodation offering, and this award reflects the time and effort invested by our team to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience.

“I am immensely proud of our staff for their dedication, and extremely grateful to both them and all our guests who have supported us along this journey.”

Hotel manager Gary McDonald added: “I’m proud to be part of this remarkable team and excited to continue welcoming guests from near and far to The Ebrington for years to come.”

The venue’s Oakroom Restaurant is led by well-known chefs Noel McMeel, formerly of Lough Erne Resort, and Leigh Thurston.

It also has a spa and wellness centre featuring its own skincare products and room diffusers.

The hotel received £7.25m through the NI Investment Fund and £1.75m from economic development agency Invest NI ahead of its opening.

In an interview with Business Telegraph last year, Mr Doherty described how he first developed the idea for the hotel at the former Ministry of Defence site in 2015. It got planning permission in 2017.
