More than 50 restaurants in the UK have made the list of Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards’ Best of the Best Restaurants 2024, with ten UK restaurants named among the best in the world. And some locations near to Bristol are among them, however Bristol’s eateries themselves have been snubbed from the list.

This year’s awards have welcomed a number of brand new categories, including ‘pet friendly restaurants’ and ‘sustainable restaurants’, however none in our neck of the woods were listed among them. Among the UK ‘Casual Dining Category’, however, Bath’s Cappadocia Mediterranean Restaurant was listed as number 10.

The Bath restaurant, which first opened in 2019 and is said to be the only Turkish restaurant in the city, is known and loved for its relaxed atmosphere, stunning artwork and decor, and authentic Turkish food – from kebabs to casseroles. It also offers a takeaway service, so it’s no surprise that it’s been acknowledged in this category.

What’s more, the Cappadocia team this year expanded their offering and opened a branch on Bristol’s Baldwin Street back in April. It’s set across two storeys and serves up a selection of Turkish and Mediterranean dishes in the same style as its sister site in Bath – so, Bristol foodies can claim this as somewhat of a win, at least.

Further south, a few Devon and Cornwall venues made the list in the ‘Date Night UK’ category, including Fifty (Looe, Cornwall), Paul Ainsworth at No. 6 (Padstow, Cornwall), and Restaurant Kensington (Lynton, Exmoor National Park). While over the bridge in Wales, the likes of The Really Wild Emporium in St. Davids (Pembrokeshire, Wales) and The Bank Restaurant (Barmouth, North Wales) also made the list.

The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants is based on 12 months of global review data, and the awards showcase Tripadvisor reviewers’ favourite dining spots for the year across nine categories – Casual Dining, Date Night, Fine Dining, Hidden Gems, Outdoor, Pet-Friendly, Sustainable, Quick Bites and Vegan & Vegetarian.
