A GoFundMe campaign has been started for the family of a Sudbury woman killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday near Port Dover in southern Ontario.

Tiffany Barrer, 31, leaves behind her partner, Eric Rainville, and five children.

Barrer’s sister, Meaghan Landry, started the campaign to support Rainville, who remains in hospital in serious condition, and the children.

More than $21,000 has been raised so far. The goal is $25,000. Go to tinyurl.com/yuutwn8c for details.

“As some of you already know, we lost Tiffany to a tragic accident and the love of her life is in serious condition,” Landry wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“We aren’t ones to typically ask for this, but if anyone can give anything to help with funeral costs, transporting her back to Sudbury, to help her kids, and to help Eric out while he is recovering and unable to work we would greatly appreciate it.”

Meanwhile, a celebration of life will be held at the Colonial Inn (28 Cedar Street, Coniston) on Friday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m.

In addition, to Rainville, Barrer is survived by children Hailee (Hassan), Jacob, Jeremi, Chloé (Jeremy) and Amélie and her mother, Lise (née Castilloux) (Philip).

Her father is the late Terry Barrer.

She will be missed by her bonus Mom JoAnn, sisters Alicia (Bobby), Ashley (Lee) and Meaghan (Pierre-Luc), as well as nieces and nephews Cassidy (Dylen), Parker, Raegan, Olivia, Terri and Lucien; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and the Derby family.

“Tiffany was an avid lover of the outdoors,” her obituary said. “She loved surrounding herself with family and friends (even better if out at camp or in the garage).

“She spent her downtime on Dad’s boat, on Eric’s motorcycle, baking the best cakes, or planning their next crash derby. She was a devoted mother, and the first one to help anyone in need. The world will be at a loss without her in it.”

Simple Wishes of the North is handling the funeral arrangement.

As for the Port Dover man charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving causing the death Barrer’s death, he refused to participate in a virtual bail hearing on Friday.

Brandon James Moore, 40, faces at least five charges in the multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 6 near Port Dover on Sept. 14.

Three motorcycles, a pickup truck and an SUV were involved in the collision that took the life of Barrer, who was a passenger on one of the motorcycles.

Barrer’s partner, Rainville, was also seriously injured and another motorcyclist suffered minor injuries.

Police allege that after the collision, Moore stabbed a bystander with a knife, sending the man to hospital with serious injuries.

Norfolk OPP originally said three publication bans on the case prohibited releasing any information that could identify the complainants, witnesses and accused but court records showed only two typical bans were in place.

In court Friday, one of those bans was lifted by assistant Crown attorney Ian Maedel, who asked a justice of the peace to rescind a ban that had been placed that would cover the identity of Barrer.

After court, Maedel said he didn’t believe a third publication ban had ever been placed.

Moore, who was to appear in Simcoe court virtually on Friday afternoon, refused to come to the video room.

Moore faces charges of attempted murder, dangerous driving, dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon.
