Local boy Eamonn Holmes seems to fascinate the Northern Ireland public.

The north Belfast-born broadcaster regularly features as one of the top google searches in the region, with news stories featuring Holmes bringing in a large audience, every time.

Holmes, who attended St Malachy’s College in north Belfast, began presenting UTV’s Good Evening Ulster in 1982 at 24 years old, succeeding Gloria Hunniford no less.

Since then, he has had an accomplished career on the telly, presenting on GMTV and ITV’s This Morning before moving onto the controversial station GB News.

He now presents their breakfast show alongside Isabel Webster.

Holmes and his second wife, broadcaster Ruth Langsford, split in May after 14 years of marriage.

Following the split, 64-year-old Holmes has been spotted hanging out and holidaying with 42-year-old relationship counselor Katie Alexander.

Ciarán Dunbar is joined by Belfast Telegraph features Editor Áine Toner to explain what the man clearly has – there’s just something about Eamonn.
