Conor McGregor was left stunned after Daniel Dubois beat Anthony Joshua in just five rounds at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.

The Irishman was among the A-listers who turned up to watch the action unfold as AJ suffered one of the worst evenings of his career.

Dubois was a class above his opponent throughout the entirety of the clash.

He nearly ended the fight in round one, with Joshua wobbling, before eventually securing victory in the fifth round.

“And my job is just to be in the gym, be in the gym, be in shape.

“One thing is for sure: whenever it is, and wherever it is, I will be 100 per cent ready. That’s all I can focus on right now.

“Man, who knows now? It does not matter. I’d like it to be Chandler; I’d like that to be squared away. I wish him well against Oliveira, but let’s see how it goes.”

With Joshua losing, it’s unclear what the future holds.

Both the fighter himself and Eddie Hearn have shut down talk he’ll retire from the sport.

Instead, it looks as though Joshua will go up against Dubois for a second time.

And McGregor has backed AJ to bounce back, despite the devastating nature of such a defeat.

“See, AJ is… AJ is number one,” he said.

“This is a stadium show here in AD, and he’s a legend forever.

“Sure. He had… he smacked him back, he stood his ground and smacked him back. And then he went forward and got caught.

“It’s only boxing. You get caught; you catch someone. Of course, he can come back for sure.”
