Royal commentator Helena Chard has criticised Meghan Markle after her team slapped down suggestions she ‘terrifies’ staff.

A report published by The Hollywood Reporter branded Meghan “Duchess Difficult” and alleged “everyone’s terrified” of her in the work environment.

A forthright denial of the allegations followed with one source telling GB News they are “total nonsense”.

But speaking on GB News, Chard told Nana Akua she isn’t sure such a denial was a good idea.

“They are working for themselves”, she said.

“They are not working for the Royal Family. They are hanging onto their royal titles and people are seeing them for what they are.

“They are seeing stories like this in good magazines like the Hollywood Reporter and you have to take it seriously.

“Meghan’s staff have said certain things and it’s hard to take it seriously. She has to take a step back, it’s not a good look.”

An Archewell source, who asked not to be named, said the quotes given to the Hollywood Reporter were “fabricated” by someone who has no idea about the inner workings of the team behind the Sussexes.

“The duke and duchess work from Montecito, and we’re based in Hollywood”, they said.

“They likely think we’re all in the same office and that this quote would fly, but the circumstances don’t even allow for it.

“If she’s ‘marching around’ and ‘barking orders’, no Archewell employee could factually claim that… It’s total nonsense.”

The original story contains a string of claims including that the Duchess of Sussex had fired “angry” 5am emails to employees.

This was also slapped down, with another source saying: “Who hasn’t sent an email when they can’t sleep or are awake early?

“I’ve never once ever gotten an email from either of them at that hour – and even if I did, the duchess specifically notes in her email signature that everyone has a different working day, and to not feel obligated to respond outside of normal business hours.

“These source quotes don’t make any sense!”

Meghan’s email signature was also said to contain the phrase: “My working day may not be your working day. Please do not feel obliged to reply to this email outside your normal working hours.”
