Celebrity MasterChef star Jake Quickenden has made his feelings clear on the show’s final three with a cheeky dig after he was eliminated during the first of the semi-finals.
The former X Factor star impressed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace throughout his time on the show, leaving the TV chefs devastated to see him leave the competition.
Last night, Craig Doyle, Vito Coppola and Rochenda Sandall were announced as the 2024 finalists – however, avid fans were left outraged at the result after Doyle used salt instead of sugar in one of his final dishes.
In anticipation of tonight’s final episode where one of the three stars will be crowned the MasterChef champion, the show’s official Instagram page posted an image of the three stars and captioned the post: “Today’s the day!
“One of these finalists will lift the #CelebrityMasterChef trophy TONIGHT at 9pm on BBC One and #iPlayer #MasterChefUK #vitocoppola #rochendasandall #craigdoyle.”
Quickenden was quick to post a comment underneath and cheekily quipped: “I should have won,” with the side-eye emoji.

Fans of the star backed him up, as one replied to his comment: “#justiceforjake You was my winner.”
“Absolutely,” another simply stated before a third added: “You were great!” (sic)
Despite the excitement surrounding the final tonight, many fans were left outraged after Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was booted out of the competition over Doyle.
The celebrities were asked to make a dish which was inspired by someone special to them, with Doyle being inspired by his wife and children – whipping up a brûléed lemon curd tart, topped with Italian meringues, and served with lemon curd-filled raspberries, basil and candied mint.
However, moments before he served the dish to Torode and Wallace, he realised he had used salt instead of sugar and admitted: “Before you tuck in, I had an issue at the end. I couldn’t understand why the sugar wasn’t brûléeing… I put salt on it.”
Tasting the dish, Torode noted: “One side here which is the salt, the other side doesn’t have any salt on it. I’ve never had a salted lemon tart. I can’t ignore the fact you’ve got salt over the top of your lemon tart – but the salt is on one side.
“The other side of your tart is really good. Your pastry is beautifully soft and it’s got lovely butter to it. The lemon curd is sharp but sweet at the same time and has set beautifully. Those meringues representing your children, nice and soft but still got a little bit of crunch to them.”
After Doyle dodged the boot, fans of the show were outraged that he was kept in the competition over Aikines-Aryeetey, with one expressing on their X account: “WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT. HE PUT SALT ON THE LEMON TART. #CelebrityMasterChef.”
