Exhibition Place generated $594.5 million in economic impact last year, according to a report issued by the city-owned agency.

The more than 1,700 events that took place at the 192-acre site last year attracted 5.5 million attendees, and created in excess of 3,700 jobs, including 2,600 full-time equivalent and 1,100 indirect full-time equivalent jobs.

The total labour income generated by Exhibition Place business events increased from $160.2 million in 2019 to $163.5 million in 2023, while taxes generated (federal, provincial, and municipal) increased from $77.5 million to $80.6 million over the same period.

“Our vision is to become Canada’s premier destination for conventions, exhibitions, events and entertainment, and the results of this study are a testament to the joint commitment and dedication of our team members, tenants, and partners,” said Exhibtion Place CEO Don Boyle in a statement.

The site, located on Lake Ontario’s shoreline, just west of downtown Toronto, hosts convention venues, including the LEED Platinum Enercare Centre, and also features BMO Field, Liberty Grand, Medieval Times, Toronto Event Centre, and Coca Cola Coliseum.

Perhaps best known as the location of the annual CNE, events hosted there in 2023 included the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, the Collision Conference and the American Water Works Association Convention.
