Canadian rush-end Lwal Uguak has rejoined the Alouettes after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Als announced Wednesday.

Uguak, the Als’ first-round (seventh overall) draft choice in 2023, joined the team for practice Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s game in Ottawa. He is under contract to Montreal through 2025.

During three preseason games with Tampa, Uguak, 24, had two defensive tackles, one sack and a knockdown.

It was his third try at making the NFL. Last year, he went to rookie mini-camp with both the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons, but having failed to receive a contract offer, he joined the Alouettes training camp in May.

He played all games with the Alouettes last year, with 16 defensive tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble. He also had 11 defensive tackles and three knockdowns in three playoff games as the Alouettes won the Grey Cup.
