One person was killed when a ninth-floor apartment on Bridletowne Circle in Scarborough – near Warden and Finch Aves. – went up in flames Tuesday night.

Toronto Fire Services says crews responded to the two-alarm blaze just after 8:30 p.m. and eventually got it under control but one occupant was located during the course of search and rescue operations.

The occupant was pronounced dead at the scene late last night.

“Our sincere condolences go out to all affected,” said TFS who is investigating the cause, origin and circumstances in partnership with the Office of the Fire Marshall and Toronto Police Services.

No other injuries have been reported but police say apartment windows breaking and debris falling from the building during the blaze. – With files From CP.
