Despite children returning to school and some shops already offering Christmas discount deals, summer in Northern Ireland doesn’t appear to be disappearing just yet, as sunshine looks set to stay for the coming days.

The mercury rose over the weekend, lasting into today, hitting 19C in most parts of the region.

This evening will continue to be dry and it will stay dry overnight with long, clear periods.

The Met Office has predicted that there will be some patches of mist and fog which may form later in the night, with a minimum temperature of 11C.

Tuesday will see any early fog patches soon dispersing, then it should be a dry day yet again with sunny spells, becoming warmer in the afternoon.

There will be light southerly winds, and a maximum temperature across Northern Ireland of 21C.

The outlook from Wednesday to Friday is so far looking like dry, settled weather, with plenty more sunshine, thanks to high pressure.

Again, there will be some patches of mist and fog during the early mornings, and more extensive cloud cover on Friday.

But, those looking forward to the weekend can relax in knowing that temperatures should again be as high as 17C, with sunny afternoons forecast on both Saturday and Sunday, and only a very small chance of rain for Saturday night.

People across NI have been revelling in the sunshine, soaking up the autumnal rays before the darker nights soon set in.

The Met Office explained that high pressure brings plenty of dry and sunny weather, and high pressure has come as a recent result of a cold front clearing over the south areas of the UK, allowing that pressure to build.

Once clouds clear and any fog lifts, there will then be plenty of clear, dry weather.
