A man who was shot last month in North York and later died of his injuries was an innocent victim, authorities say.According to Toronto Police, officers responded to a shooting just after midnight on Aug. 27 in the area of Sheppard Ave. and Weston Rd. When cops arrived, they found a victim who had been shot inside a business.

The victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries. However, he died of his injuries on Labour Day.

Police identified the victim as Arslan Ahmad, a 21-year-old university student from Brampton.

Investigators say he was in the area visiting a friend.

“It is unbelievably upsetting. It was so dangerous for so many,” said Det. Sgt. Brandon Price said in an update to the city’s 58th homicide of the year on Saturday.

“This was a ridiculously cowardly act.”

Investigators released a video that showed a vehicle and two suspects from that vehicle.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model white Toyota Rav4 with a black roof, black rims and tinted windows. The vehicle may have a personalized licence plate.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance identifying the suspects and vehicle involved.
