A policeman accused of paying for sex six times and attempting to pay for it another four has appeared in court.

Colin Jamison, with an address given as PSNI Ardmore in Newry, is alleged to have committed the crimes in Belfast on dates between 2021 and last year.

The 55-year-old, who appeared at the city’s magistrates court, is alleged to have attempted to solicit sex on June 12, 2021, and to have obtained sexual services from another person three days later.

According to the charges, he obtained sexual services again on November 8, 2021, and attempted to obtain them on the 22nd of the same month.

Jamison is further charged with obtaining sexual services on December 15, 2021, and again on November 23, 2022.

He is said to have attempted to solicit sex once more on a date last year, as well as attempting to solicit prostitution.

A defence barrister said his client would appear in court again to face the charges on September 20.

Jamison is understood to have been arrested over the allegations earlier this year.
