On Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid playfully reprimanded co-host Richard Madeley. During the show, they chatted with BBC radio star Jamie Laing about his ambitious fundraising effort for Comic Relief.
Jamie kicked off a gruelling 150-mile run from London to Salford on Monday morning to raise money for the charity.
While discussing his progress and the trials he faced just a day into his journey, Jamie admitted to experiencing some discomfort in an unexpected area.
Intrigued, Susanna asked: “Jamie, why is it affecting your bottom?” To this, Jamie responded: “I don’t know. Honestly, guys, my bum hurts so much! It’s a new pain that I’ve never felt before.”
Although Jamie maintained a positive outlook during his conversation with the ITV team. With genuine interest, Susanna probed further regarding the possibility of his shorts causing chafing.

Contrary to her hunch, Jamie explained: “No, it’s not the chafing of the shorts. The chafing is in other places, which aren’t so good. But Vaseline does wonders! I think Vaseline is the greatest invention after the telephone! I think it’s unbelievable.”
Richard shared his curiosity about the precise cause of Jamie’s soreness, leading Jamie to reveal that the specific source of his pain was his left buttock, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Joining in with a humorous twist, Jamie quipped: “I think someone has climbed into my room at night and put something in my bottom! Honestly, I don’t know what’s going on, it’s really sore, it’s hurting so much. But I think it’s probably because I did over 50 kilometres of running yesterday.”

Richard queried: “Have you ever had this problem with your bottom before?” to which Susanna hastily capped the discussion.
She interjected: “Right, that’s enough, that’s enough, Richard. Honestly, right let’s move on.” They swiftly changed topic to explore the rationale behind Jamie’s charitable endeavour.
Jamie revealed to the ITV hosts his motivation, explaining he had grappled with severe anxiety in his twenties yet remained silent about it.

He shared with the presenters: “I got asked to do this by Radio 1 and Comic Relief and I thought it would be an amazing thing to do.
“So many people have done it before, but also, more than that, it’s such an amazing opportunity to raise lots of money for Comic Relief, for these amazing projects that they do.”
Aiming for a substantial challenge, he added: “I wanted to make it hard, I wanted to make it really hard. So I thought, ‘Oh this will be fun, why don’t I run to Manchester, where the Comic Relief show is being done on Friday night?'”
Nonetheless, Jamie acknowledged underestimating the difficulty of his venture.
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
