Meghan Markle likely still has “feelings” surrounding her failed relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, according to a commentator.
Thomas Markle Sr recently reignited the public feud with his estranged daughter, the Duchess of Sussex, by branding her new Netflix series “inauthentic”.
Psychologist Stefan Walters, who specialises in trauma therapy, noted that public family estrangement is particularly difficult.
“When there’s an estrangement, whatever form that takes, it can be painful and hurtful to be reminded of that connection,” he explained.

Walters noted that continued public commentary suggests emotional ties remain.
He continued to tell OK!: “The fact these people still feel a need to talk about Meghan suggests there are still feelings there, maybe sadness, and anger and grief, and it’s probably the same for Meghan too.”
He added that bringing family disputes into the public sphere “isn’t edifying and doesn’t serve anyone well.”
The 80-year-old father of Meghan told the Mail that the 43-year-old appeared “pre-planned and rehearsed” in her show “With Love, Meghan”.

He claimed he could tell when his daughter was “faking it” for the cameras.
“She’s trying so hard to be perfect that she tenses up every time the camera is on her,” he said.
Meghan has not had meaningful contact with her father since shortly after her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
She told Oprah Winfrey in 2021 that she felt she’d “lost my father”, and given Thomas’s latest criticism, a reconciliation seems unlikely.

Despite the family criticism, Meghan revealed last week that Netflix had commissioned a second series of “With Love, Meghan”.
The first season made the streaming service’s Top 10 globally, in the US and in Britain.
It’s just the second show of Meghan and Prince Harry’s five Netflix projects to break into the charts.

“If you’re loving Season 1, just wait until you see the fun we cooked up on Season 2!” Meghan wrote on her official Instagram page.
She added: “Thanks for joining the party, and an endless thanks to the amazing team and crew who helped bring it all to life!”
The Duchess is also launching a new podcast, amid the ongoing family tensions.
