Football icon Lionel Messi has initiated a treasure hunt across Wales, England and Scotland, sending fans on a frenzied search for 10 autographed bottles of his Mas+ by Messi drink.

The hunt begins at 4pm today (Monday 17th), as eager fans will have a chance of getting their hands on one of the exclusive golden capped editions, by visiting any one of the 2,600 Spar stores.

Fans have been warned that these bottles could be tucked away anywhere from Edinburgh to London to Wrexham.

One lucky winner will enjoy a dream trip to Miami, complete with Inter Miami CF game tickets, airfare, and hotel stays. Other winners will be given a lifetime’s supply of Mas+, along with coveted Messi-branded goods.

Voicing his excitement, Messi said: “Both in football and in any challenge, the motivation to achieve the goal is what drives everyone.

“I hope the hunt brings excitement to those who are always striving for their own moments of success, now powered by Más+. Good luck to everyone searching, and I hope to see the winner in the stands in Miami soon.”

The first 100 Mas+ bottles will be handed out free at ten selected Spar outlets throughout the UK, serving on a first-come basis, with one bottle in each of these selected stores containing the sought-after golden cap.

This marks the debut of Messi’s beverage in the British market, a venture he claims to have been involved with throughout its creation process.

According to the footballing star, he aimed to create a drink beverage that helps people achieve their goals and one to share with his friends, family and teammates. Consequently, four unique flavours were crafted, each paying homage to a significant achievement in his career.

‘Miami Punch’ is a tribute to his current squad, Inter Miami FC; ‘Orange d’Or’ celebrates his eight Ballon d’Or triumphs, ‘Berry Copa Crush’ commemorates his Copa America success, and ‘Limon Lime League’ salutes his quartet of Champions League victories.

Despite the word Más translating to ‘more’ in Spanish, Más+ by Messi boasts a mere 1g of sugar and just 10 calories per 500ml serving, free from artificial colours or sweeteners. Since its debut in Miami last June, the drink has seen soaring popularity, with sales surpassing 3.5 million units.

Jeremy Kanter, representing the football icon’s beverage brand, remarked: “We knew we had to launch Más+ by Messi in the UK with big energy.

“We wanted to bring people together through their shared love of the beautiful game and encourage positive hydration.”
