One of the country’s biggest supercar events is to be staged in Bristol for the first time, with organisers taking over the whole of Ashton Gate Stadium. The event is called Sanctioned, and has been growing in popularity since it began a couple of years ago in Exeter.

Organisers are expanding to take in Birmingham and Bristol, and at Ashton Gate will take over the outside, the concourses inside and around the pitch area with ‘themed zones’, with some of the country’s most modified cars, hypercars, supercars and sports cars.

Last week Ashton Gate announced that it was postponing its live music summer concert series, in order to give more time for the stadium staff to prepare for the Women’s Rugby World Cup, which is taking place in Bristol in the autumn. This event – billed as the biggest ever automotive event ever held in the south west – will be the biggest off-season event of the summer for the stadium, with thousands expected to attend.

“The show will host over 400 cars,” said Sanctioned director Daniel Billings. “Expect high-value hyper cars, supercars, the best modified show cars in the UK, along with the latest models from prestigious brands.

“We will take over the entire venue, meaning we can offer a variety of themed zones, from outdoor arena’s to indoor concourses. In addition to the cars, we will have dealerships, trade stands, simulators, entertainment, a BMX stuntshow and much more.

“We are also very excited to announce that we will be offering 60 cars the opportunity to park inside the stadium itself. Those cars will be parked around the perimeter of the pitch, with visitors having the opportunity to get pitchside to see these amazing cars up close,” he added.

“Just imagine sitting in the stands, or the VIP lounge, and seeing cars parked inside this full size 27,000 seat stadium – this is the first time this has been done in the UK,” he said.

“Bristol is an exciting and vibrant city, with excellent transport links to the south west, Wales, the Midlands and London via the M4 corridor, making it the perfect location for us. State of the art Ashton Gate, in the heart of the city, offers one of the best stadium venues anywhere in the UK.

We are so excited to have the opportunity, alongside the forward thinking team at Ashton Gate, to host the biggest ever automotive event to take place in the south west. We cannot wait to welcome you all in June.”

Early-bird tickets are now on sale for the event until March 31. The event itself will take place on Sunday, June 15.
