Eamonn Holmes should reach out to his ex Ruth Langsford on her 65th birthday to avoid “unnecessary tension”, according to a relationship expert.

The former couple publicly declared their split last May after 14 years of marriage, and have since gone their separate ways.

Despite this, James Preece, dating coach and relationship expert at HeraHaven.com, believes Eamonn should send Ruth a text on what is her first birthday without him in over 14 years.

He said: “It would be rude not to [contact Ruth] – especially if he wants to keep things amicable.

“A simple ‘Happy Birthday’ text is sufficient. He doesn’t need to make a big gesture, as this would be inappropriate, but he should at least acknowledge the day.”

Should Eamonn, 65, choose to ignore the occasion, James believes this could “create some unnecessary tension and become a discussion point in the future”.

He went on to say that Ruth’s first birthday post-split may also have a “bittersweet” sentiment.

Eamonn Holmes has been urged to reach out to his ex Ruth Langsford on her 65th birthday

“There could be some sadness, and she may feel isolated or lonely as she previously celebrated with Eamonn,” he continued.

“However, she might also see it as a fresh start, a chance for renewal and an opportunity to embrace new things.”

Highlighting Ruth’s resilience, he added: “She’s a strong woman, so while it might be bittersweet, I don’t think she’ll dwell on it for too long.”

The relationship expert urges Ruth to spend her special day surrounded by loved ones “in order to feel supported and appreciated”.

The Loose Women star has been focusing on moving forward following the “very difficult” end of her marriage.

In an interview with Woman and Home Magazine, she added: “You can let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.”

Embracing this attitude, Ruth appears to have been letting her hair down with loved ones, including Rylan Clark and Lizzie Cundy, since becoming single.

On the other hand, GB News presenter and ex-husband Eamonn Holmes has started a new relationship, with 43-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander.
