Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has issued an emotional family update on Instagram from hospital.
Buswell shared a photo of her dad, Mark, in a hospital bed whilst undergoing treatment for cancer. She described him as a ‘superhero’.
In 2023, the dancer revealed that her father had undergone his third round of chemotherapy. In her latest Instagram post, she poses with her father as he sits in a hospital bed, both smiling towards the camera.
In the caption of the image, Buswell wrote: “My dad is a superhero.”
Fans and friends rushed to share their well wishes to the 35-year-old and her dad under the post.
Strictly judge Shirley Ballas wrote: “Love dad love you be strong.” Whilst many other Strictly professionals, including Amy Dowden and Nancy Xu, left heart emojis.
Nikita Kuzmin wrote: “Loads of love to Mark xxx”.
Fans also left positive messages, with one commenting: “Sending love and hugs Dianne to you and all your family, I hope Mark is home again very soon.”
“Sending you so much love and hugs,” added another.
Buswell then thanked those for their messages of support, saying: “A massive thank you to everybody who sent my dad well wishes.”
The dancer took home the Glitterball trophy in the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing with comedian Chris McCausland.
After winning, she wrote on Instagram: “This really was a moment I’ll never forget in my life! I had my beautiful parents in the audience and them seeing me dance was something I wanted for so long the fact they got to see us lift the glitterball was just magical.”
Originally from Australia, Buswell joined Strictly in 2017 for the fifteenth series. Prior to her win with McCausland she had made it the final twice, with her now-boyfriend Joe Sugg in 2018 and then again with Bobby Brazier in 2023.
